Textile Recycling

Every year the British public throw away over a million tonnes of textiles, the vast majority of which could be reused or recycled. Nearly two million pairs of shoes are thrown out each week that could be worn by someone else. Memtex offers an environmentally friendly alternative to this wastage. Who gets my clothes?

Memtex exports the majority of the textiles it recycles to countries in Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe where they are transported throughout the regions from remote rural communities, to city centres. The majority of the countries that Memtex export to, don't have a textile industry to manufacture high quality clothing that is affordable to the average person, and charity shops are non existent

Exporting our recycled clothes help establish overseas markets and provides less fortunate communities with affordable western clothing. The vast majority of recycled clothing exported by Memtex are traded and sold within the local community. Memtex also supports a number of orphanages and schools with your donated clothes, shoes and sports kits.
